The Ampuis wine market: Taste the best of the Côtes-du-Rhône region!

The Ampuis wine markets are back for another edition! Over a few days days, this major occasion in the world of wine will bring together several winemakers and wine companies, offering more than 200 wines from the Rhône Valley to taste and buy.

Around 15,000 people, including wine novices and enthusiasts, come together each year at the Ampuis wine markets.

 

This historic meeting features the Côte-Rôtie wines and those from neighbouring districts in the Rhône Valley: Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Hermitage, Saint-Péray and Crozes-Hermitage.

 

To accompany these wines, there are different stands offering local fine foods including mushrooms, olive oil, snails, cheeses, jams, salted meats and the ravioli of Saint-Jean.

Smell and touch … the history of the vines and wines

The Espace Rabelais is an old private hotel in Bagnols-sur-Cèze that has been tastefully restored. Here visitors of all kinds will feel at home, including children, who can have fun reading free notebooks about vines and grapes, all of which are translated into English.

Acquaint yourself with wine and food tasting in the company of the winemaker and a local artisan producer.

In addition to two museum rooms, this free-entry wine tourism centre, which is part of the Vineyards & Discoveries network, also organizes tastings of the Côtes-du-Rhône Gardoises wines all year round , (on Wednesdays, during the local market), as well as free-of-charge wine and food presentations in the company of the artisan producer and the winemaker, and introductions to ticketed wine tastings. In summer, it’s time for unusual wine tastings (in caves!), walks through the vineyards, and visits to the wine cellars.

Make your own road movie between Hermitage and Saint-Joseph

Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph are famous names known to enthusiasts of Côtes-du-Rhône wines. An invitation to discover around one hundred vineyards that are part of the Vineyards & Discoveries network.

Choose from a wealth of wine cellars, wine tastings, restaurants, accommodation, leisure activities, cultural sites, walks and camping car sites. All you need to do to create your own intinerary is click on each category and then select the stages you would like to include. If you geolocate your position, you can see what’s on offer nearest to where you are. The places you have selected are then organized into a list or a map, as you prefer, and your future trip is saved for reference.

From white to red, and not forgetting rosé, the sommelier introduces the main types and styles of wines in a one-hour tasting of a selection of 3 world wines (accompanied by bread sticks). The Hospices de Beaune charity wine auction: A legendary event!

The most famous charity wine auction in the world takes place each year on the third weekend of November at the Hospices de Beaune, accompanied by three days of festivities in the purest Burgundy tradition!

Rare vintages and wines from all over Burgundy can be found at the famous Hospices de Beaune wine auction, which is about much more than prestigious, themed or gourmet wine tastings.

 

There are also many other events during this weekend of festivities: street performances, traditional parades, presentations of local fine foods, and a half-marathon through the vineyards of Beaune, the city of art famous for its Hôtel-Dieu with its patterned roof tiles.

Music in Champagne at the Flâneries Music Festival in Reims

For around 30 years, Mumm has been the sponsor of the music festival Flâneries Musicales de Reims. Music takes over the city for a month, to the great pleasure of festival goers who come to the capital of the Champagne region.

Each year, the city of Reims welcomes thousands of music lovers for the Flâneries Music Festival. Throughout the month, contemporary musicians play an outdoor programme of very diverse types of music, ranging from classical to jazz and tango.
