Château Puy Servain on the Camino de Santiago Adventurous explorer Bergerac
As an adventurous explorer, have you heard of GR 654? Of course you have. It’s the long-distance walking path that runs from Belgium to the south-west of France via Vézelay. Well, if you ever feel the urge to reach Santiago de Compostela on foot or by bike, we’ve found the perfect gîte for a stop-off en route. Past Mussidan and 7 km outside Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, sits Château de Puy Servain, operated on a sound and sustainable basis by Catherine and Daniel Hecquet. These two passionate winemakers have created a comfortable gîte for 10 people on the ruins of an ancient château right in the middle of their vines. They also offer dormitories for pilgrims making the trip to Santiago de Compostela, located in the farm buildings. Of course, the walkers will be able to recharge their batteries with a tasting of this estate's exceptional Bergerac, Montravel, Haut-Montravel and Pécharmant wines. It’s also worth noting that in August, the château hosts Festival Pampa, an open-air theatre festival among the vines.
