Le Clos du Grand Bois Adventurous explorer Mâcon-Sud Bourgogne
A vast hilly clearing framed by the woods, a hundred metres above the small houses of the village of Lugny. And views as far as they eye can see: the Saône Valley to the east, the Bresse plain and, in the distance, the foothills of the Jura mountains. To the north, the Brinchamp plateau covered in vines and the famous Mâconnais hills. This is where we decided to bring you, our adventurous explorer: the excellent estate of Le Clos du Grand Bois. Excellent because it is a genuine wine estate, with the accompanying buildings and land, but it also has a pond, a source of natural water...and its vines. The real treasure here only covers four hectares (9 acres), planted with Chardonnay and planted in a perfect south-west facing direction. If you come for the décor and wine, you will stay for the warm welcome of its owner, Anthony Lafarge, who will host you in one of his guest rooms or in his extremely comfortable “oeno-tonneaux” wine barrels with their excellent view. And of course an overnight stay also includes a visit to the wine estate, vat room and a tasting of the oaked white wines and Crémant sparkling wine. The perfect Burgundian weekend.
