Go horse-riding through the vineyards in Vaucluse Adventurous explorer Rhône Valley
We know you like to try things that are a little out of the ordinary, so we’ve uncovered a slightly unusual activity: a trek through the vineyard on horseback. Where? In the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains in the Vaucluse region of Provence. During the ride, a local winemaker will take on the role of guide and explain the special features of a terroir that each year produces excellent blends of Beaumes de Venise, Gigondas, Vacqueyras as well as Sablet and Séguret Côtes du Rhône. While horses have long been the tool of choice for winemakers as they work the land, they are also particularly well suited to a trek through the area’s terrace cultivation and a great way to experience the semi-mountainous views. You’ll also get a chance to put theory into practice as you taste some of the finest local crus. An excellent way to spend time with a winemaker and a fool proof excuse to have your children join you on your wine adventures.
