Sébastien Maurin

Sébastien Maurin takes wine lovers on the Route des Grands Crus to discover the beautiful region of Bourgogne. But who is this wine buff? Read on to discover his story and the man behind the bottle...

Sébastien developed a passion for gastronomy at a young age and naturally gravitated towards studying at hospitality college. After graduation he worked at top restaurants, including one run chef Pierre Gagnaire, then enrolled at the Beaune Viti agro campus winemaking school. Following this he co-managed a wine bar before deciding to share his passion with others and become a wine tourism guide. At Authentica Tours he found a company that shares his values and his desire to promote the French way of life.

Terroirs, the art of wine tasting, production techniques and wine élevage are just some of the topics he likes to cover during visits to wineries and over meals at traditional local restaurants. As with all the guides at Authentica Tours, sharing is key, and he knows that wine and gastronomy have the power to bring people together, whether it's the relationship between the producer and their customer or during a meal with family or friends!

Sébastien explains Bourgogne’s story to visitors by revealing the secrets behind some of the region’s best known vineyards, as well as a few hidden gems. He enjoys sharing his knowledge with experienced wine fans or beginners as they visit famous appellations such as Marsannay, Santenay, Gevrey Chambertin, Meursault, to name but a few. In a region with a fascinating diversity of wine, history and culture, Sébastien teaches people to take the time to understand the different aspects that play a role in fine wine production: the soil, the sky and the human touch.
